Abstract

A method is presented that aims at developing the ability of students to handle information, to participate in group discussions, and to accept and give constructive criticism. The method involves synthesizing information in poster handouts and taking part in a student-centered assessment. The assessment proceeds through an objective scoring strategy that leads to the identification of key points for selecting and integrating information, as it should be displayed in poster presentations. A component of the strategy is the separation of these `poster panels' into their main sections. Student's participation is enthusiastic.
