This website gives you access to all the programs, data files, videos and colour images submitted to the Spectrochimica Acta B Electronica since 1991

The files are identified by a code e.g. 48/1047/93 consisting of Volume/Page/Year of the corresponding printed paper.

The files can be unpacked to your computer by clicking the file's name. For your convenience each file is provided as a self-extracting file. This file is a compressed version of the set of files provided by the author. It will "unpack" itself without the need for special utilities. However, Macintosh and Dos/Windows files require different handling. Please follow these instructions to use the programs:

Videos are presented in Apple Quicktime® format.

If you do not have Quicktime® installed on your computer, it can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple website.

  • Dos/Win files: All files are packed as a MS Windows self-extracting file. Files should be double clicked in the Windows environment and will unpack themselves automatically.
  • Macintosh files are provided in binhexed .sea format. Each file should have an icon resembling a diamond with a C-clamp squeezing a diskette in the center. Simply double-click on the SEA icon: you will have the opportunity to specify the local folder and filenames.
  • Note that some files are in compressed formats such as Zip® or Stuffit®; as submitted by their authors to SAE.
  • After decompression read any "readme" files present for supplementary installation information
  • Some programs will unpack to provide directories called disk1, disk2 etc. Please copy the contents to 3.5 inch HD floppy disks and use them for installation
  • IBM/DOS files
  • Macintosh files

EXE Files. This refers to a DOS/Windows convention of using the three-letter extension exe after the dot in file names. This extension means that the file is an executable and can be run.

SEA Files. This refers to a Macintosh file convention where compressed files that can decompress themselves have the three-letter extension sea standing for "self extracting archive".
