Dr. Charles Sheppard is currently Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Warwick, UK. He has been the Editor of Marine Pollution Bulletin since 1992.

His current research interests include: interactions between species and between ecosystems in the marine environment; effects of natural environmental variables and anthropogenic sresses on marine ecosystems, (including analytical techniques to discriminate between them); analysis of biogeographically based global patterns of species distributions, and ecological controls on distributions.

He has authored several books and major reviews as well as over 100 scientific papers and magazine articles on marine science, and numerous consultancy reports for agencies such as the Overseas Development Agency, UNEP, The World Bank, UNESCO, and the UK Department of the Environment.
