Effective Volume 33, Number 5, we have taken over from John Quigley
and Konrad Stahl as editors of the journal. On behalf of the community
of urban and regional economists, we would like to thank John and Konrad
for their fifteen years of devoted and expert service to the journal.
During their tenure, the journal has flourished: the number of issues
per year has increased from four to six; submissions have quadrupled;
and quality-adjusted citations to papers published in the journal have
gone up by orders of magnitude. In no small part due to their efforts,
after a lull in the 1980’s the field has been revivified, and
is once again active and vibrant, and attracting many creative young
scholars.
We will select academic papers for publication based on our judgment
of their intellectual quality, aspects of which include originality,
policy relevance, and technical and expositional quality.
We are committed to providing authors with prompt, courteous, and expert
service.
