Now that the Y2K buzz is over, many enterprises have turned towards e-commerce as the next big information technology challenge. More and more, companies are asking themselves how they can handle transactions more efficiently, communications more securely, and automate repetitive processes. They look around, and hear the words Public Key Infrastructure brandished about as a solution to all of these problems. Sounds great. The problem is that like any technology problem, the solution is easy, but the implementation is a great deal harder than it appears on the surface.
