Comprehensive Composite Materials Internet Version

Free Internet access to Comprehensive Composite Materials will be included for all purchasers of the print volumes. It will be made available to all users at a purchasing institute on a site licence basis.
The Internet version will be structured in the same way as the print version and will be fully searchable. The minimum browser requirement for access to the Comprehensive Composite Materials website will be Netscape Navigator version 3 or Internet Explorer version 4.
The Internet version will be published simultaneously with the print set in July 2000.

Preliminary designs are currently shown to illustrate some of the functionality of the website. These will be replaced with the actual interface design as production of the Internet version progresses.

Searching
Searching will be possible across the entire work, or within a specific section or volume. It will also be possible to restrict the search to article titles, author names, index, figure captions, tables or bibliographic references.

Format
Chapters will be available as full HTML, which will allow full text searches and rapid download times for easy on screen browsing. They will also be available as PDF files to enable chapters to be printed off with typeset quality.
The full subject index will be included plus an index of contributors.

All articles will also feature a list of cross references to and from other articles in the Work.

Access
Access will be freely available to any purchasers of the print set. Access will be provided to all users on a particular purchaser's site, subject to site licence conditions. In brief, access will be restricted to those users based at the same site as the purchasing library, as determined by post/zip code. Access will be restricted to a set of IP addresses nominated at the time of purchase. Librarians do not, therefore, need to be involved in the administration of passwords. The Work will be hosted on an Elsevier Science server. The website will be available on a continuous basis - 365 days a year, 24 hours a day - except where essential maintenance is required.
Access to the Internet version will be guaranteed for all users until at least 31/12/2010.
