The Physics and Astronomy Classification Scheme (PACS) is prepared by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) in collaboration with certain other members of the International Council on Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) having an interest in physics and astronomy classification. The most recent internationally agreed scheme was published by ICSTI in 1991. Revised editions of PACS are published annually, or as necessary, by AIP.
