Current Readings in Transport Economics Vol.5, No.4, 2007

Big news in the transport economics publication world: the book series, Research in Transportation Economics, edited by Martin Dresner, is officially becoming a journal in 2008: www.elsevier.com/locate/retrec

RTE will continue to publish several substantial themed volumes each year (and we already have some works in progress by very eminent names). However, its integration into the online journal machinery will ensure it is disseminated even more widely than before.

If you would like to propose a volume of RTE, please contact Martin Dresner at mdresner@rhsmith.umd.edu.

If you want to be alerted whenever a new volume of RTE appears online, you can sign up for a free alert from ScienceDirect.

Other book news: I am pleased to report the successful launch of Sergio Jara-Díaz’s new book, Transport Economic Theory. First we held a popular book signing during the European Transport Conference (which, incidentally, as an AET Council member I encourage you to attend in October 2008!). Then Nobel Prizewinner Dan McFadden spoke at the book’s official launch at the Universidad de Chile, comparing it to Debreu’s 1959 classic, “Theory of Value”. You can see a report (in Spanish) at http://ingenieria.uchile.cl/boletin/noticia.php?id=9844.

Thanks for reading!
