Untitled Document 33rd Session of ICAR and the INTERBULL Meeting
26-31 May 2002

The 33rd Session of ICAR (International Committee on Animal Recording) will be held from 26-31 May 2002 in Interlaken, Switzerland together with the INTERBULL meeting. The main topic of the ICAR sessions will be "Performance recording and breeder needs, marker selection,  functional traits and performance recording in developing countries". INTERBULL meeting. The main topics will be: Estimation of genetic correlations across countries and International genetic evaluations for non-production traits. Sheep and Goat Housing and Technical Developments in Sheep and Goat Management
28-30 June 2002. Hotel Reykholt, W-Iceland
This Symposium is organized by the NJF-Section VII, Agricultural Engineering, and the Nordic Sheep and Goat Council (INTERNORDEN) and will be held at Hotel Reykholt, Borgarfjörður, W-Iceland, 117 km to the north of Reykjavík. On Thursday 27 June INTERNORDEN will hold its biennial meeting where brief reports on sheep and goat production in all the Nordic countries will be presented and other matters of mutual interest will be discussed. In the evening there will be a short cultural programme. Seminar participants are welcome to attend the INTERNORDEN programme. Visits to farms, research and scenic locations will take place. 7th World Congress on Genetics applied to Livestock Production, Montpellier

The Scientific Programme concerns Species, Traits and Functions; and also Breeding Programmes; 29 concurrent sessions are scheduled. The Opening Plenary Session will address "Animal Breeding and Society".  Posters, software demonstrations and a field day plus gala evening will take place. Graduate Courses are offered on "Breeding for disease resistance: uniting genetics and epidemiology"and "Basic statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis".
